Wiggins is a small city located in Stone County in south-central Mississippi. It's part of the Gulfport-Biloxi metropolitan statistical area. As of the 2010 census, the population of Wiggins was 4,390. In the 1980s, in an attempt to draw more tourism to the city, leaders developed an annual Pine Hill Day, which later became the Pine Hill Festival. The festival is a 2-day spring event that draws around 15,000 people annually. The Pine Hill Festival offers an arts & crafts fair, a farmer's market, live music, antique vehicle displays, games for children, food and more. Wiggins close proximity to Biloxi and Gulfport is another draw for tourists. The adjoining cities lie directly on the Mississippi Sound and several barrier islands are scattered off the coast. The Mississippi Gulf Coast was ranked as one of the top three "up and coming" destinations in North America by Foders/ASTA Annual Hot Spot Survey. The area is also home to several casinos, and many historical attractions such as the Biloxi Lighthouse, constructed in 1848. Museums, art galleries, unique shops, stately homes and architecture; plus some of the very best restaurants featuring Cajun seafood this side of the Mississippi River can be found here. Recreational activities include golf, swimming, boating, fishing, sailing, windsurfing, beachcombing and crabbing.
