Crystal-Springs
is a small city located in Copiah County in southwest Mississippi. As of the 2010 census, the population was 5,044 residents. It's part of the Jackson metropolitan area, which includes Copiah, Hinds, Madison, Rankin, and Simpson Counties, as well as the city of Jackson. Crystal Springs is known for its landmark bed and breakfast inn located downtown, as well as many other historic buildings the surround the town square. The town is also home to Chautauqua Park and the Treetop Trail. This 1500-foot boardwalk zigzags through the top of the trees, which is a thrilling hike and birdwatching spot, too. Just a short drive from Crystal Springs takes you to all of the attractions of the city of Jackson, well-known for its blues clubs and juke joints. A few other places of interest include the Smith Robertson Museum and Cultural Center, the Jackson Zoological Park, and the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science. Also, the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum was named in the Top 10 "Most Amazing Baseball Museums in America," by ESPN. LeFleur's Bluff State Park in Jackson County contains 500 acres of woodlands with hiking trails, a fishing lake, camping, golf, swimming, playgrounds and picnic areas.

Southwestern Mississippi has a tropical climate with long, humid summers and short, mild winters. Snowfall is extremely rare in southern Mississippi. Average annual rainfall is 62 inches. Winter temperatures average 52 degrees F. in January and the average temperature in July is 83 degrees F. The temperate climate is mostly pleasant, except when summertime heat and humidity levels climb skyward, making it quite uncomfortable. Mississippi lies in the path of hurricanes moving northward from the Gulf of Mexico during the late summer and fall. Also, two tornado alleys cross Mississippi from the southwest to northeast.
