Clarksdale is a city in northwest Mississippi's Delta Region. It's known for being home to many blues musicians and for having a significant role in the history of the blues. The Mississippi Blues Trail is designating markers of historic sites in the region, such as Clarksdale's Riverside Hotel. This is just one of the historic sites in the city of Clarksdale. Others include a cabin on Stovall Road, thought to have belonged to famed bluesman, McKinley Morganfield, also known as Muddy Waters. Other Blues Trail markers include one devoted to Clarksdale native, Sam Cooke, which was unveiled in front of the New Roxy Theater. Clarksdale is also home to the Delta Blue Museum, which has been a popular, long-time attraction in the city. Today, Clarksdale is also known for its festivals: the Clarksdale Film Festival in January, the Juke Joint Festival and Mini Blues Fest in April, Clarksdale Caravan Music Festival in May, and the Clarksdale Holiday Festival and Parade in early December. Its a wonderful place to live, or visit, not just for blues fans, but for everyone.

Clarksdale Weather & Climate

Northwestern Mississippi has a humid, subtropical climate. The weather is mostly determined by three factors; latitude, the Gulf of Mexico to the south and the landmass of the continent to the north. Temperatures in the state are relatively mild due to the proximity of the Gulf and the latitude. Having a humid, subtropical climate means the average temperature of the coldest month of the year is less than 64.4 and it receives regular precipitation all year, rather than having a distinct rainy season. The average temperature of the warmest month is over 71.6 degrees. However, Mississippi's weather at times seems to follow a "feast or famine" situation - either a lot of precipitation or drought conditions. Hurricanes are possible, but mostly affects the southern coast. Mississippi is in the path of two tornado alleys that run southwest to northeast across the state.
